Are You a Living In Grace?

Ephesian 2:8

For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God

If you are a fellow believer then you too are Living In Grace that is built upon the firm foundation of Christ our Savior. I pray that what is written here will glorify Christ and edify His body, the Church.

4 Life's Narrative

Luke 12:20-21

20But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?
21So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.

Why, after Tressel admitted in March that he played ineligible players and lied to the NCAA about it, did people still rush to his defense, claiming him an otherwise perfect coach who made one little mistake?
Because Tressel, Ohio State and a compliant media -- yes, I'm just as guilty as the other two parties -- sold that narrative so well.- Andy Staples, Sports Illustrated
I do not know what kind of man Coach Tressel is; I have not never met him and I probably never will, but he does have something in common with all of us.  His life is a narrative, a story, and a journey from the cradle to the grave filled with triumphs and failures.  How we travel down that road, how we conduct ourselves, and the way we relate to others will fill the pages of our lives with the saga of who we are and what God would have us become.

We are not our own with regards to God or those around us.  Our lives are interwoven into the great tapestry of those who came before, those who live with us now, and the ones who have yet to be born.  Everything that has happened has been ordained of God for His glory and the benefit of His children.  Sometimes the story is rough and we would like to quickly flip the pages, but God has a reason for us being there.  We should count it all joy when we fall into various temptations and troubles as we are privileged to have the very author of all Creation as our Father and He is in control.  He is writing the story of our lives as we travel along the Narrow Road towards that Heavenly City and He knows the beginning from the end.  He has ordered our steps and straightened our paths even when all seems lost.
None of our lives will ever fit neatly into any single genre of literature save that of non-fiction.  Our lives are real, Truth is objective, and there is a God who is Sovereign over it all.  What will the words written upon the pages of your life say?  Will even your enemies acknowledge your love of God and family or will your life be remembered with shame and regret?  Will your life be a dime store novel or a lasting testament to the transforming power of God?  Is Jesus the Author and Perfecter of your faith or are you the captain of your own ship?

The rich man filled his barns while giving no thought to anyone but himself.  His story was an ego-centric tale of tragedy as his life was required of him without ever having enjoyed the benefits of the harvest.  He was concerned with himself, his barns, and his gain while neglecting God and others.  Coach Tressel broke the rules and lied to win football games.  For what or whom are you living your life for? Is your life being lived for temporal gain or heavenly rewards?  Are you living for God or have you idolized yourself and your desires? The past chapters have already been written but the conclusion is still unknown to us.

What will your narrative be?

A Living Stone

Great post. When we are pursuing worldly treasures we are chasing after the wind as Solomon said. It's completely meaningless. A complete waste of our time here on earth. Living for God, doing His will, storing up lasting treasures, is where I want to be and how I want to be remembered.

By the way, Warren Baldwin left a comment on my site for your blog. He'll probably stop by to check out your website.

Thanks Amanda.  We all live and our story is written upon the pages of our lives and will be remembered by  those we have impacted either good or bad.  I truly want to have my treasures where there are not any moths or rust
